Why do you Network?

The dynamics of Networking is changing. The businesses that used to Nework to find new business are looking for more than this.
Nowadays, I am finding that they want to learn something specific to help their business grow. It might be tax related, or advice on marketing or a plethora of other things that as a group leader we have to source the information and pre-empt the thought process, continually striving to keep ahead.
For me this is where providing added value to the Membership comes in and is something that is continually worked on.

As a networker, what do you want to get out of a meeting for your money? What drives you to attend meetings? What makes a meeting complete for you?

The Network meeting puts expression into contact.

We all have endless contacts online and with the ongoing growth of social networking sites, everyone will be connected to everyone soon. However, this alone is not enough.

The term 'contact' remains linked with physical touch and some sign off their emails and messages with the words "Keep in touch".

Whilst we can always create a new link with one phone call or email, this does not become a contact in our deep social understanding of the word, until we have met face-to-face.

The reason people still meet each other is simple. At a meeting you can really see the facial communication and body language which is part of the total picture we all use to build up trust.

So at a meeting, people get what they need - they are able to read those subtle natural expressions which say so much.

We network to meet. Networking without meeting misses the point of being alive.

I look forward to our next meeting.

Good to have your comments.
There is a lot to be said about online networking but so beneficial when you add the face to face meetings in with the online contact.
Such an opportunity to connect with the real person.
